A city has its own unique gastronomy, which is quite unlike that of the rest of the country.
Located on the cultural crossroads between Europe and Asia, Tbilisi, which stands out for its patchwork diversity, created its own gastronomic tradition unlike any other.
It was here that Ajapsandali, “Tbilisi-style Ostri (stew)”, boiled Khramuli fish, “Tbilisi-style Khash (beef soup)”, “Chakhokhbili (chicken stew)”, town-style Khinkali (Georgian dumpling) got their second lease of life… But that’s not all. Tbilisi added a special flavor to all the regional or foreign dishes.
It was in Tbilisi douqans and merchants’ rows: cotton row, iron row, dark row..
Douqan used to be a cultural icon of Tbilisi not only in terms of its content but attitude as well.
Trying to revive the old good times, we are starting a modern “Rigi” (Row) in Vorontsov Square, where Nikala (Niko Pirosmanashvili) used to paint the pictures of rafts on the Mtkvari River. If you appreciate the purely Tbilisi-style elegance, tasty dishes, relaxation and a friendly atmosphere, that’s the place you belong to.
